Impact testing

Impact testing is possible at rates up to 3-4 meters/s with the use of either a Wiedemann-Baldwin or Tinius-Olsen impact testing machine.  The former machine has capacity of either 240 ft-lb or 60 ft-lb via the use of different impacting heads and is equipped with a Dynatup Instrumentation Package and instrumented impacting tup.  This enables data acquisition at rates sufficient to capture the loading history under impact conditions and can be used to calculate dynamic impact toughness on either notched or fatigue pre-cracked samples that are 10 mm x 10 mm x 55 mm dimensions.
